Trips where all the puzzle pieces fit together

Two travel concepts, one shared vision.
What makes a trip truly special?
For us, a special journey does not begin with a spectacular brochure photo or a luxury hotel. It is the big picture that counts.
The atmosphere of a place.
The hospitality.
A walk recommended by a local.
A restaurant where the menu is not available in four languages and where you need a translation app to discover what the chef is preparing today with so much pride.
Nature, the vistas, and the tranquility.
And especially the feeling that you are truly welcome as a guest.
No single puzzle piece needs to be perfect on its own. But together, they must ensure that you come home with the feeling: this was fantastic. I got to know a new place. I met lovely people. I felt at home for a moment, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
That is also the way we develop our trips.
We are heading out on our own.
Not to collect as many addresses as possible, but to find places we would love to return to ourselves. We deliberately look for small-scale accommodations, local entrepreneurs, and activities that stem from a love for the region, not from mass tourism.
Of course, along the way we also come across locations that seem perfect at first glance. Until the moment you are almost obliged to leave a review at the checkout.
For us, a bit of the spontaneity disappears there.
Hospitality cannot be forced, and neither can authenticity.
We prefer to search a little longer for that one place where everything is right.
We still get excited when we discover a place and immediately think: we want to take our travelers there someday.

Two concepts, one travel philosophy
Our two travel concepts have grown out of that way of working.
With Travel with Bieke, I lead small-scale trips to Portugal. Trips where people can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a while. A few days away from the rush. No packed itineraries, but a carefully constructed journey where nature, gastronomy, culture, and relaxation alternate at a relaxed pace. Everything is arranged and guided from A to Z, so my guests only have to enjoy themselves.

With Travel with 4x4, Sjoerd and I guide adventurous travelers on carefully planned off-road trips in Europe and far beyond. Participants drive their own 4x4s or join in a vehicle that we provide. We leave the paved roads behind and choose routes that you might never discover on your own. In doing so, we collaborate with local guides who know the region inside out. This makes our trips much more than just a beautiful drive through nature. They also offer insight into the history, culture, and daily life of the people and animals that live there.

More than a destination
Although both concepts seem very different, ultimately it is about the same thing.
We believe that you don't have to fly to the other side of the world to experience a trip that will stay with you for a lifetime.
A destination becomes special because of the people you meet, the stories you hear, and the feeling you leave with when you return home.

A shared passion for quality travel
Maybe that is why we are a bit allergic to standard.
We prefer a trip that surprises over a program that everyone already knows. We take the time to search, compare, and sometimes start over, until all the puzzle pieces fit.
That is how we like to travel ourselves.
Based on that vision, we develop all our trips today.
We are therefore proud to be part of the VVR. We look forward to meeting colleagues from the sector, exchanging experiences, and continuing to build high-quality travel together, in which craftsmanship, personal contact, and love for the destination take center stage.
